Summary of Duties:
The T. Brown and Hentges neuroscience labs in the Department of Integrative Physiology & Neuroscience at Washington State University are seeking a Research Laboratory Manager. This individual will join two dynamic neuroscience research labs as a key team member responsible for ensuring excellence in laboratory operations and research compliance. This role combines hands-on scientific work with essential management responsibilities, offering growth opportunities in a cutting-edge research environment.
As Laboratory Manager, you will lead comprehensive oversight of daily laboratory operations, encompassing strategic inventory management and implementation of rigorous safety protocols. The role demands expertise in managing complex animal colonies, where you will coordinate breeding programs and procurement while maintaining detailed documentation. Your hands-on responsibilities will include executing specialized laboratory techniques such as genotyping, solution preparation, and tissue handling. The person in this position is expected to ensure quality control and to modify/adapt procedures to specific protocol requirements and to interpret and evaluate results.

Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, biology, physiology or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience. Appropriate scientific disciplines include neuroscience, biology, physiology, or a closely related field.
• Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail are essential, as are excellence in documentation and record-keeping.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Candidates with previous laboratory management experience will be given strong consideration, particularly those with expertise in rodent handling and colony management.
• A strong background in molecular biology techniques and experience with laboratory safety regulations and compliance are highly desirable.
