Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
This position provides oversight and leadership, including volunteer management, for the WSU 4-H Youth Development Extension Program of Lincoln and Adams County, with a focus on Animal Sciences, which currently serves over 300 youth members enrolled in over 14 active clubs and lead by 100+ volunteers. This oversight includes the implementation of programs and activities within the policies and procedures of WSU Extension and under the direction of the Lincoln County Extension Director and the State 4-H Associate Director.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Related program experience includes academic or volunteer acquired skills, knowledge, and training in education, social science, counseling, youth development, volunteer management, program development, agricultural education, agricultural sciences, or related field.
• Related program experience also includes past Extension, 4-H or FFA experience.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of WSU background screening.
• Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with frequent evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the program.
• Reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) is required. While using a private or WSU motor pool vehicle for official business, have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW 46.30.020 and RCW 46.29.090) and possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3 and departmental driving standards.
• Ability to remain alert while driving for long distances while traveling around the multi-county area.
• Travel is expected on a year-round basis including possible overnight travel to various locations outside the area within targeted counties.
• Ability to work year round in a variety of outdoor weather conditions, in solitary in remote locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Educational background in Animal Sciences.
• Experience in Extension or other youth development related program.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment emphasizing youth and adult development.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate using oral and written skills.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to and collaborate with a wide range of people from varied social and economic levels, ages, races, ethnic backgrounds as well as in rural, suburban, and urban settings.
• Demonstrated competency in electronic communication methods and software for daily work activities inc
