Professional Position Details: The Opportunity: As the Contract Manager, you will provide day-to-day management and oversight of the Office of Research Support and Operations (ORSO) Contracts Group, which gives specialized support for the preparation, review, and negotiation of complex funding agreements (e.g. industry-sponsored projects, FAR contracts, and international contracts) and non-monetary research contracts, and provides support to the Office of Commercialization through the review of option and license agreements and the monitoring of existing agreements for contractual compliance. You will also monitor team performance and work quality; standardize and document processes and performance expectations; develop and conduct staff training; and serve as a member of the ORSO leadership team. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert on research contracting arrangements. This position is located on the WSU Pullman campus in Pullman, Washington. After completing an initial training period, the selected applicant may be eligible for some hybrid remote work based on operational needs. Required Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Ability to assess business and legal risk, make independent decisions based on sound judgment, and collaborate with other offices/officers to problem solve and address cross- cutting issues. • Ability to interpret, explain, and apply complicated rules, regulations, and policies. • Strong analytical skills. • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. • Experience establishing priorities. • Experience managing multiple projects. Preferred Qualifications: • JD or Masters degree in a related field.
