We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Assistant Vice President, Trade Processing (Internal Job Title: Cash & Trade Proc Mgr - C12) based in Penang. , Malaysia. The Cash & Trade Proc Mgr. is an intermediate level role responsible for ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time in coordination with the Transaction Services team. The overall objective is to manage Trade Operations team, apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge to reach solutions and ensure deliverables are completed efficiently and accurately. Responsible in managing the team performing day-to-day operational tasks in Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) White Label In-sourcing project specifically in end-to-end trade transactional processing for Trade Advance/Bills Products.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure CBA’s Trade Advance/Bills Products transactions are processed in accordance with prescribed standards of banking operational procedure.

  • Review service quality, production systems, and client reporting within trade operations. Ensure the team delivers services as per agreed service standards and turnaround time to meet customers’ expectations

  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines governing trade finance and services operations

  • Analyze complex and variable issues to resolve issues and ensure team deliverables meet performance and quality expectations

  • Involve in frequent operations discussions with various internal and external Citi and CBA stakeholders to brainstorm for solutioning to enhance client experience. Recommend quality reviews of Trade management services, production systems, and client reporting.

  • Liaise with various stakeholders such as CBA Operation teams and Citi Technology team to resolve operational and technology related issues

  • Design and formulate corrective and preventive measures for improvements, subject to approvals

  • Maintain a healthy and highly motivated team

  • Encourage strong teamwork across all clusters in the team

  • Supervise and in charge of operations relating to the services of the CBA’s Trade Advance/Bills team, managing a team of makers and checkers

  • Manage performance, identify areas of development/training and make recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations, hiring, etc. of team

  • Contribute to planning, budget management and formulation of procedures

  • Serve as backup to the Trade Operations Senior Manager

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate with at least 10 years of work experience in international trade finance

  • Candidate with at least 7 years of experience in managing people as incumbent is expected to manage the CBA’s Trade Advance/Bills team with various complex products.

  • Proven experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business performance

  • Effective verbal and written communication and analytical skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience

Skills:

  • Good proficiency in English language (written and oral)

  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong knowledge in technical skills in trade, well versed in UCP600, URC522, ISBP and Financing guidelines – strong analytical and problem solving skills is required

  • Strong knowledge in Citi’s internal processing systems mainly TRIMS and CBA downstream systems and back-end accounting entries between both system

  • Strong presentation skills as incumbent is expected to have very frequent interactions with counterparts from CBA and Australia Branch.

  • Able to multitask as incumbent would be challenged with various stretch assignments given by manager.
