The School of Health Science and Human Movement's (HSHM) vision is to be the peoples’ choice for Health Science and Human Movement degree programs through the delivery of innovative instruction to establish diverse professions. The School of Health Sciences and Human Movement offers 4 degrees:
BS in Exercise Science, Physical Education and Recreation (emphasis in General Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, Physical Education and Recreation)
BS in Health Science (emphasis in General Health Science, Health Coaching, Pre-Athletic Training, Pre-Nursing, and Public Health)
BAS in Health Science and Administration (online degree for allied health professionals).
MS in Athletic Training (3+2 program available)
Description of Job
Responsibilities of this position include teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in the Health Sciences programs; contributing to program curricular needs in Health Sciences; Contributing to other program needs such as advising, field experience liaison, etc; the teaching expectation is 24 hours per academic year and possible courses include, but are not limited to: Intro to Health Professions; Foundations of Public Health, Drugs and Healthy Lifestyles, Personal Health, Behavioral Facilitation, Seminar. This position requires fulfilling basic service duties to the program, college, university and/or profession. Scholarly activity is broadly defined to include mentoring graduate/undergraduate research projects, research, presentations, publications, professional consulting, interdisciplinary research collaborations, use of research in curriculum development and peer reviewed grants. This position may include additional teaching during the summer session annually with additional pay or possible rotation of load.
Primary Duties
Teach courses in the Health Sciences degree program in accordance with program needs and assessment standards. This includes preparing and presenting course materials according to department curricular needs; administering appropriate evaluation of student performance; selecting and ordering texts; preparing, administering, and grading assignments; and assigning final grades. It will also include proposing curriculum changes and program modifications to the Coordinator of Health Sciences and meeting with students during office hours concerning course assistance, mentoring or any other concerns.
Conduct and engage in scholarly activity such as professional research, presentations, publications, grant writing, review journals or textbooks, attend conferences, provide leadership on research projects etc.
Conduct student advising/mentoring to ensure appropriate course work is completed to accomplish program objectives. This requires the faculty member to establish, post, and communicate with students regularly scheduled office hours each week and more during registration periods (part of the office hours will be spent supporting teaching).
Ancillary Duties
Participating in service to the school, college, university and profession. Participate in committees, campus meetings, University functions, graduation, professional service work and other duties as assigned. This will include outreach to field-based sites for internship placement.
Participating in recruitment or retention activities, program review, assessment, strategic planning or other assistance to the school as needed.
Salary Range:
$42,000 to $46,000 - Additional compensation may be available for summer teaching.

Master’s degree in Public Health or related field
Strong collegial and collaborative skills
Strong communication skills
Experience with and commitment to work with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications
Health Coaching or Public Health certificate
Ability to teach a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level
Contemporary experience in the field of Public Health, Health Promotion and/or Community Health.
Successful experience in college teaching.
Experience and/or commitment to work within a standard and performance-based teaching models
Evidence of scholarly work and outcomes
Experience and/or commitment to the use of technology as an instructional tool including teaching online or hybrid courses.
Experience in student recruitment, outreach activities and curriculum development.
