About Colorado Mental Health Hospital In Pueblo
Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo (CMHHIP) is an acute care psychiatric hospital that provides comprehensive psychiatric treatment services medical services by multidisciplinary treatment teams. This includes: 24-hour nursing care and assessment; psychiatric intervention and evaluation; psychological services; psycho-social services; Occupational Therapy; Educational and Vocational Rehabilitation services; Recreational Therapy; and other services
required of an acute care psychiatric hospital licensed in the state of Colorado. CMHHIP provides psychiatric services for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Description of Job
About the Position:
This position exists to provide braiding services and full service cosmetology care/services to patients at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo. The position is a member of the interdisciplinary teams providing cosmetology services that supports daily living care and support for community re-entry. Duties in this position include:
Cosmetology Services
provides shampooing, cutting, facial hair trimming, cornrow and natural hair braiding, and other hair care services to patients at CMHHIP
provides instruction on hair care and hygiene hair care as well as maintaining good nail care
works independently on hair services on the units or in one of the 3 beauty shops provided at CMHHIP
provides programming on the various hair and nail hygiene care
peeps records of services provided by scheduling and maintaining records
Procurement/Inventory
keeps the shop supplied with products by keeping up to date inventory, ordering what items are needed, and purchasing products
ensures that all purchases are completed by the necessary deadlines
verifies that forms and tracking systems are in compliance with required standards, statutes and regulations
Instructional Services
- provide instruction on hair care and hygiene, as well as maintaining good nail care Instruction is provided on an individual basis as needed or at the request of patients or unit staff
Other Duties as Assigned
- tasks assigned by supervisor that directly improve or provide operational services to assigned teams and customers
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Minimum Qualifications:
Current, valid Barber/Cosmetology licensure appropriate to the position from the State of Colorado’s Office of Barber and Cosmetology Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:
minimum 3 years of professional experience with braiding textured hair
5 years experience in the field
Excels in great customer service
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Good time management skills
Conditions of Employment:
must complete a full Background Check
shift work
Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials –Hair care and nail products
TB testing
former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS
