The responsibilities of this part-time adjunct instructor position include teaching quality courses for the Spanish (SPN) program in the Department of English and World Languages. We are specifically looking for people who are qualified to teach First-Year Spanish.

Description of Job

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Adjunct Instructor of SPN will perform the following duties:

The selected candidate for this in-person, on-campus position will teach baccalaureate level courses in the Spanish program in accordance with program needs.

Specific duties include:

  • preparing and presenting course materials according to department curricular needs;

  • administering appropriate evaluations of student performance;

  • preparing, administering, and grading assignments;

  • holding office hours;

  • assigning final grades.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Required:

  • Master’s level degree, or Bachelor level degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours.

  • Advanced proficiency in Spanish

  • Experience teaching as the primary instructor

    Preferred:

  • A Master’s degree in Spanish, Hispanic Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Education, or related field

  • Experience teaching Spanish at the college level

  • Proficiency in French, Italian or German

    Compensation

$1,000 per credit hour up to 24 combined total credit hours for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters
