The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury and promote health by monitoring the health of the community and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy.

POSITION: Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II         POSTING #: 3014-0125ksa *May Underfill as Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist I  Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

The Opportunity:  Under general guidance and direction of a Bureau Director, the Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II is responsible for ensuring compliance with emissions regulations through a combination of auditing, technical expertise, and training. This role involves conducting inspections, investigating complaints, providing technical support, and developing and delivering training programs.

Grade: Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II -- 724 Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist I -- 721

Starting Pay:

724: $29.99 -- $34.49 per hour 721: $24.34 - $27.97 per hour 

Schedule: Monday -- Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m., some occasional nights and weekends may be required

 

Job Qualifications -- Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II: 1. High school diploma or equivalent.  2. Four (4) years of work experience in automotive engine performance and emission control diagnosis and repair.  3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

 

Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes - Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II: 1. Preference may be given to currently certified Utah County Emissions Technicians.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications - Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II:  1. Applicants must possess a minimum of one (1) of the following ASE Certifications: Engine Repair, Electrical, Engine Performance, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.

 

Job Qualifications -- Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist I: 1. High school diploma or equivalent.  2. Two (2) years of work experience in the automotive industry or an Inspection and Maintenance related field.    3. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

 

Preferred Candidates will possess some of the below attributes - Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist I: 1. Preference may be given to applicants with any current ASE Certifications.
