Overview of the Position: Oversee the design and certification of FAA approved aftermarket aircraft parts Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Design of commercial aircraft aftermarket parts by reverse engineering. * If required, may use standard measurement tools such as a micrometer or caliper to gather dimensional data. * Create 3D CAD models and dimensional data reports from reverse engineering data. * Create manufacturing drawings of aftermarket parts from dimensional reports, material analysis, and available technical data. * Manage multiple reverse engineering projects simultaneously. * Create reports and data packages to be submitted to the FAA for certification. * Check engineering drawings and FAA reports for accuracy and completeness. * Provide engineering group training in specialized areas. * Provide support to purchasing and sales with travel to suppliers and customers. * Provide technical support for the material review board (MRB) and the continuous operational safety group (COS). Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Good written and oral communication skills * Detail oriented. * Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite. * Familiar with ASME Y14.5 dimension and geometric tolerance standards. * Familiar with manufacturing methods and processes related to the creation of precision machine parts such as gears, bearings, seals, etc. * Demonstrated design experience of mechanical or electrical components. * Experience with 3D CAD modeling, with Solid Works experience required. * Experience with FAA certification process of PMA parts. * Experience with FAA regulatory guidance applicable to PMA parts. * Demonstrated skills and expertise in several specialty areas of aerospace design.

Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with minimum 8 years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. * Is frequently required to talk or listen. * Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel. * Is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 10 pounds. * Works in moderate noise levels. * Travel up to 20%.
