IT Sr. Project Manager

What you'll do in this position:  

As a Sr. IT Project Manager, you will plan and coordinate every aspect of information system-specific projects, from inception to completion. Your role may include audiovisual installations, network configurations, hardware deployments, or application development/upgrades. You'll be the key communicator, coordinating efforts between IT teams, internal customers, partners, and contractors. You'll define project requirements, conduct feasibility assessments, and create detailed project plans. Additionally, you'll manage all implementation processes, including resource management, scheduling, progress tracking, change control, documentation, training, and ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of systems and services. The Project Manager at this level manages highly complex, extra-large scope, top-value projects and serves as a project management lead/expert for the organization.

Required Education/Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Preferred: Master's degree

     

Technical and Professional Certifications: PMP Certificate preferred. CTS, CTS-I, and/or CTS-D preferred. Service Management Certification preferred.

This role requires delivering high-quality, forward-thinking solutions to complex technology issues by applying industry knowledge, vision, technology skills, and logic under high-level time constraints. The individual must work autonomously, make complex, high-level decisions, including those involving the work of other teams, and coordinate across various organizations, interacting with high-level decision-makers such as vice presidents and university officials. They must provide a strategic vision, present alternative approaches to technology and business impact, and lead across BYU and CES campuses, overseeing projects with budgets potentially exceeding $1M.
