Provo City is looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant to perform clerical support work for the Provo City Cemetery in our Parks division. Come join this administrative team and learn new skills!

Job DetailsWhat is the compensation? $14.00 to $18.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)

What will I do?

  • Input data into computer.

  • Maintain files and records, including organizing them and establishing appropriate filing and retrieval processes.

  • Type, file, and sort documents.

  • Greet customers, in-person and via phone and email, and answer questions about services.

  • Operate general office equipment and maintain office supply inventory.

  • Provide information from reports and records.

  • Handle confidential information.

  • Edit correspondence for final review.

  • Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.

  • Schedule meetings, appointments, and conferences and maintain calendars and staff schedules.

  • May assist with bookkeeping responsibilities, including handling cash, billing, requisitions, and purchase orders.

  • May assist with tracking program budgets and expenditures, payroll and time tracking responsibilities, training, evaluating, and/or supervising part-time clerical support staff.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

What do I need to apply?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • 2 years of clerical experience.

  • Or an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience [substituting each 1 year of post-secondary education/training for 6 months of experience].

  • Experience using specific computers or software packages may be required.

  • A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.

What are the hours? This position is 25 hours a week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Actual schedule varies and will be discussed by the hiring manager.

What are the environmental/physical factors? Requires standing at a counter or sitting at a desk or computer for long time periods. Some positions require shift work, extensive walking, driving, or light lifting (10-30 lbs.). Work is inside with little or no occupational hazards present. Some positions may include exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including, contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

What is the selection process?

This position is open until filled. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
