Job Description:
Summary
The Mayoral Lab is part of the Department of Neuroscience and is affiliated with the Carney institute for Brain Science at Brown University. The lab studies glia-neuron interactions in development and disease using classic and modern cellular and molecular approaches as well as in vivo mouse models and in vitro systems.
The Research Assistant will contribute to the overall administration of the lab and assist with daily lab activities, including mouse colony management, maintaining cell lines and reagents, tissue collection and processing, and experimental analysis. Candidates may be considered for either a grade 7 or grade 8 position based upon their specific qualifications.
This is a fixed-term position with a current end date of one year from hire, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor's degree in the life sciences.
Required: Prior related laboratory experience or extensive coursework. (Grade 7)
Required: 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience. (Grade 8)
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with mouse models and colony management is a plus.
Experience with cell culture techniques is a plus.
Experience with biochemistry and techniques such as RTPCR and Western blotting is a plus.
Experience with immunohistology techniques and fluorescence imaging is a plus.

Must be able to multitask and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
