Charter Care Health Partners Referral Coordinator in Providence, Rhode Island

Position Summary

The Referral Coordinator ensures the quality of the referral process is upheld to departmental and system standards by developing and maintaining a collaborative relationship with the providers and outpatient practices. The Referral Coordinator reviews the incoming referral for information that is accurate and appropriately reflects the patient’s demographics and the providers request for a specialty referral. The Coordinator contacts the patient gathering additional information and obtains all necessary and relevant authorizations. The Referral Coordinator ensures quality control of the referral process is upheld by reviewing the accuracy and timeliness of referrals through daily monitoring ensuring targets are met.

Successful outcomes of this position include developing and maintaining outstanding relationships with doctor's offices and hospitals. Providing exemplary customer service to patients and their family members in a compassionate and competent manner. Enhancing community relationships, program visibility, timely responsiveness and excellent patient satisfaction.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced medical degree/certification preferred. Bilingual Portuguese/Spanish required/strongly preferred.

Experience: Four plus years of relevant work experience in a medical/physician’s office required. Previous knowledge and experience processing online/phone authorizations required. Previous coding/billing experience preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic software applications to include Electronic Health Record management.

  • Knowledge working with Athena and experience with Meditech and Infina.

  • Skill in dealing with interpersonal issues and customer relations.

  • Ability to lead multiple staff/disciplines;

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to organize and communicate clearly.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
