Brown University Assistant Director, Business Analysis & Reporting in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The Division of Pre-College and Undergraduate Programs (PCUG) is responsible for developing and offering non- credit and credit courses and programs for 6000 high school students, as well as Brown University undergraduate and Visiting Students from other institutions. This position also provides direct support to the Brown Collegiate Scholars Program, a college access program for Providence Public Schools students. Students participate in programs on Brown University’s Providence campus, as well as online and in other locations. Within the Division there are teams of staff who are responsible for marketing, admissions, enrollment, academic content, instructional delivery, student life, finance, information technology, human resources, payroll, and the various policies and protocols associated with this work. The staff works closely with colleagues from across the University to ensure success, including the Registrar’s Office, Office of Information Technology (OIT), Office of University Communications, Division of Campus Life, and Facilities Management.

The Assistant Director will lead business analysis efforts in the Division. They will work with staff across the Division to review, improve and build business processes to enhance quality and reduce effort. The Assistant Director will prepare customer requirements as specifications for implementation including developing process maps for business processes, ensuring requirements accurately reflect business needs.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will manage Division data, ensuring quality data and accurate reporting to support analysis for the Division. This position will assist with documentation of business and system processes, along with training users on systems. They will also provide, both as part of the role and as backfill for the Assistant Director for Application Support, application support for systems utilized by the Division of Pre-College & Undergraduate Programs, which includes but is not limited to Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, DocuSign, FormAssembly, StarRez, Tableau, Cognos, CCure, Spekit, TouchNet and Atrium.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide in-depth business analysis and lead the requirements lifecycle processes to ensure business needs are met 40%

  • Develop reports and create dashboards, and ensure high data quality across systems 15%

  • Data Analysis 10%

  • Provide overall application support for all PCUG systems 15%

  • Documentation and Training end-users 10%

  • Build and maintain knowledge of current and best practices in the field 10%

    QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 or more years of providing implementation and technical support of CRM software. Salesforce product experience strongly preferred.

  • 3 or more years of business analysis, CRM administration, report writing or project management experience

  • Salesforce Administrator or Salesforce Business Analyst certification preferred.

  • Cognos experience strongly preferred

  • Higher education experience preferred but not required.

Job Competencies

  • Ability to accurately document business requirements and ERP systems' information architecture.

  • Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and system processes.

  • Strong aptitude for diagnosing end user problems, identifying and implementing solutions

  • Knowledge of SQL, SOQL or similar query language required

  • Understanding of standard IT policies and procedures, including usage of test environments and change procedures.

  • Proven history of utilizing Microsoft Excel to import, export, query and report on data.

  • Working knowledge of relational database architectures preferred.

  • Propensity for strong, internal customer service delivery and a proactive approach to user efficiency.

  • Detail-oriented and organized with an ability to set and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to protect confidential information.

  • Demonstrated history of functioning independently while working well in a team-oriented environment, taking the initiative to be productive and efficient.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to translate user needs into technical specifications
