Corteva Agriscience Nursery Support Specialist in Proctor, Arkansas

This position will work with the Breeding team and the breeding support supervisor to conduct nursery and increase operations in corn, cotton, and soy. The Associate ensures the work location functions efficiently by performing a variety of duties across a range of procedures when preparing and conducting experiments to produce quality seed/data for increases and advancement.

What You'll Do:

  • Works with station employees to help set up experiments and perform advanced data analyses, works with field contacts to achieve high quality plots, helps prepare and sort seed packets into planting order, helps to map nurseries, take notes and upload data using advanced technology, monitor in-field issues, lead teams of temp workers to collect samples, and exercise independent judgment and discretion as appropriate.

  • Works with team members to maintain collaborative contacts between Station Ops Lead, Breeding Support Supervisor, Phenotyping lead, and station crop leads to ensure research goals are met to expectations.

  • Have a general understanding/interest in learning about the application/use of genetic marker data, applied agricultural biotechnology, statistics, use of GPS/GIS systems, and have an open mindset for learning beyond current experiences and knowledge.

  • Help with seed lab activities including spreadsheet manipulation, seed shipping, sorting, inventorying, and supervision of hourly employees.

  • Will be an integrated member of the West Memphis Team, participate in regional safety committees and audits, administer center-wide safety programs and comply with all station and company policies.

  • Will be requested to help maintain appropriate inventory of nursery equipment and supplies necessary for the completion of breeding goals by the station project.

  • Must be well organized, able to manipulate spreadsheets and problem solve.

  • Periods of extended work hours and overnight travel during planting and harvest will be required.

  • Identify improvements in procedures and protocols within allotted time constraints.

  • Identify appropriate and efficient uses of ME Nursery Research Project resources.

  • Ability to work effectively in excel and manipulate spreadsheets.

  • Make daily decisions associated with conducting experiments that reflect Company Policies.

  • Decide priority of work activities to meet assigned shipping deadlines, balancing all assigned projects.

What Skills You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree with up to 2 years industry related experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills organizational skills and computer skills/experience.

  • Excellent personal interaction skills and ability to work as a team member with a diverse group of people.

  • Must be capable of doing physical lifting (up to 50lbs).

  • Must have a clean driving record.
