Robert Half Systems Administrator in Princeton, New Jersey

Description

The Senior Systems Administrator manages Microsoft OS and LAN servers in both Azure and on-premise environments to improve office automation for the home office and field teams. This role provides day-to-day support, resolves technical issues, and collaborates with vendors, users, and IT teams to streamline processes and meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configure, maintain, and support file servers, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery.

  • Manage data backups, restoration, and retention policies.

  • Automate and support desktop and Enterprise Microsoft environments.

  • Work with the Lead Technical Architect on machine build specs and installation procedures for new software.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues (e.g., LAN/WAN, system errors).

  • Handle procurement, including quotes, orders, and asset management.

  • Maintain infrastructure, track licenses, and ensure disaster recovery testing.

  • Analyze user requests, prioritize tasks, and provide 2nd-level application support.

  • Oversee issue escalations and ensure timely resolution of production issues.

  • Provide regular project updates and coordinate with teams to meet deliverables.

  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained per departmental or regulatory requirements.

    Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or equivalent work experience;

· Minimum of 5 years Microsoft and Linux (is a plus) server administration experience with working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V, VMWare, and Microsoft Azure or equivalent in a secure Microsoft Cloud environment

· Strong experience in server maintenance, Enterprise Backup processes such as Azure Backup and Commvault, scripting and automation tools, Windows client administration, patch management technologies such as BigFix and/or System Center Configuration Manager, Anti-Virus and Remote Access administration.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration;

· 2-3 years’ experience with anti-virus and anti-spam cybersecurity technologies;

· Experience with Cisco, VPN and firewall technologies a plus;

· Requires experience working with external business partners and vendors;

· Requires continued knowledge and learning of existing and new technologies and tools;

· Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry systems a plus;
