We seek a creative and passionate computational scientist with a background in addressing translational questions to join the Immunology, Cardiovascular and Neurology (ICN) Early Translational team within Informatics and Predictive Sciences, a globally distributed group driving innovative computational research for discovery and early development. With rapidly advancing technology, approaches utilizing in-depth analysis of multiomics and clinical datasets have now advanced such that their application to drug development can help transform and enable the next wave of breakthrough therapies that can reach patients faster through innovative clinical trial designs. In this role, you will implement rigorous data analysis practices and align resources based on scientific priorities to lead analyzes of high-dimensional readouts from longitudinal patient cohorts. Your analyses will identify biomarkers predictive of patient outcomes and response to therapy and inform drug development and safety pipeline. As such, in this highly collaborative role, your work will directly inform discovery, biomarker, diagnostic and clinical development.

We are seeking a highly motivated bioinformatician with preclinical or clinical experience to join our Early Translational ICN team. The successful candidate will help advance Bristol Myers Squibb's ICN clinical programs through the strategic application of cutting-edge bioinformatics approaches.

Responsibilities

Analyze various -omic-scale biomarker data generated from human subjects in clinical trials and other observational cohorts, including RNA-Seq, Exome, and Whole Genome Sequencing, high throughput proteomics, and multiplex flow cytometry to validate pharmacodynamics effects, confirm the mechanism of action, and enable patient enrichment strategies.

Conduct analysis independently to integrate and mine large-scale external datasets to further our understanding of diseases in Immunology and Neurology.

Work both independently and collaboratively to extract insights, generate hypotheses and guide drug development decisions in our Early Clinical, Development and Translational teams and help inform our development pipeline.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree 7+ years of academic / industry experience

  • or Master's Degree 5+ years of academic / industry experience

  • or PhD 2+ years of academic / industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, molecular biology, genetics, engineering, statistics, or a similar discipline.

  • Four (4) or more years relevant experience in preclinical or clinical research.

  • Proficiency using R required and 1+ additional programming language preferred.

  • Strong experience in statistical modeling and/or machine learning approaches, such as mixed-effects models, predictive modeling, etc. to represent biological concepts.

  • Experience with clinical database (SDTM/ADaM) and biomarker statistical analysis is a plus.

  • Individual contributor role requiring strong background in -omic (DNA, RNA, epigenetic, proteomic) data analysis and biological interpretation.

  • Prior experience in immunology or neurology is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, rigorous and creative thinking

  • Ability to communicate effectively with biologists, clinicians and other computational scientists.
