As a Senior Data Engineer in Research IT, you will play a critical role in supporting Research Foundational Data Products including CoreReg, Substance Mart, DARE and Asset Mart. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling data-driven decision-making processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, researchers, and IT professionals, to support research and development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support Foundational Data Products CoreReg, Substance Mart, DARE and Asset Mart.

  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources, ensuring data consistency, quality, and accessibility.

  • Data Management: Implement data management best practices, including data governance, data quality, and data security.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

  • Performance Optimization: Optimize data processing workflows for performance and scalability.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models, and data integration processes.

  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve data-related issues, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of data.

  • Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in data engineering and apply them to improve existing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data engineering or a related role.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. Experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar. Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.

  • Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake), and ETL tools (e.g., Glue Studio, Informatica Powercenter).

  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI).

  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and data privacy standards.
