Overview
Princeton University's Neuroscience Institute seeks applicants for an experienced Research Specialist with a background in experimental rodent research to join a laboratory whose new work focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying social interactions in mus musculus. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who has a willingness to learn and acquire new laboratory and computational skills (and a demonstrated track record in learning new techniques).
This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding.
Responsibilities
- Assist postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in animal care and mouse behavioral data collection (audio, video and neural).
- Maintain high standards of methodological rigor and clear records of upcoming and completed tasks.
- Perform stereotaxic surgery and mouse care for chemogenetic, optogenetic, and in vivo electrophysiology procedures.
- Collect behavior and neurophysiological data independently.
- Use existing software and deep learning tools developed in the lab to facilitate large-scale data analyses.
- Implement 3D tracking pipeline.
- Apply developed data processing routines to adequately store and reorganize data in formats necessary for further explorations.
- Contribute to analyzing and writing scientific reports and papers.
- Stay up-to-date with literature in the field and participate in weekly lab meetings and lab discussions.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelors degree in neuroscience or related field
- Postbac lab research experience including histology adn steretaxic surgery
- Experience with mouse electrophysiology and behavior
- Experience implementing computational pipelines for behavior tracking and sound analysis.
Preferred
- Experience with neuropixels recording technology
