Overview
Fairview Health Services is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview Northland Medical Center location in Princeton, MN.
As a Surgical Technologist, you will efficiently perform the functions of a scrub person during surgical procedures delivering patient care services served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN. You will also be collaborating to carry out the standards of nursing practice and patient care, accurate use of supplies/equipment and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of an RN.
Schedule : This is a casual position with a 0.01 FTE, working hours as needed. The shift length will be variable in the day/evening shift. This position will also work weekends as needed.
About our Operating Room at Northland Medical Center:
We are searching for a positive team player who is open to learning new skills to join our family-like atmosphere in the OR.
We currently have 4 Operating Rooms and 2 Procedure Rooms.
Call is 20-minutes and we do have call rooms available.
Northland Medical Center has on-site FREE parking!

Responsibilities Job Description
As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:
Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Complete one of the following by hire date:
Military Surgical Assistant; OR
LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR
Surgical Technologist training
Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
Other Required Skills
Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
