Weyerhaeuser in Princeton BC is seeking to add a Mill Engineering Manager to its mill leadership team. This role will report to the Unit Manager.

The Mill Engineer Manager works closely with the mill leadership team, external contractors and vendors to implement capital and pool projects safely and efficiently within budgetary guidelines, and will have total responsibility for the design and installation of the production facilitates and equipment at the lumber mill.

The successful candidate should be willing to work in a true team environment with a constant slate of projects being implemented. The incumbent should lead and facilitate the capital execution process for the area while organizing and documenting all required records serving as central process gatekeeper.

In addition, this role will direct energy efficiency, environmental impact and industrial engineering services. This role is also responsible for leading the capital and process engineering portions of the mill roadmap development and presentation. They will lead a key role in presenting gate reviews with SVPs and subordinates.

The Mill Engineering Manager provides leadership to the process control team.

Responsibilities:

  • Role models all safety standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our core principles, creating a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Oversees all capital improvement projects on site from inception to completion.
  • Overall responsibility for contractors on site to project completion.
  • Investigate and propose alternate solutions to current issues to maximize value for capital spending.
  • Practice responsible financial management in the execution of project and maintenance reliability functions
  • Manage process control department including direct/indirect reports, prioritization of work and job planning.
  • Responsible for the development of Process Control associates through clear expectations, performance reviews, coaching and other professional approaches.
  • Contribute toward strategic planning process to include providing input, direction and solutions to issues based on analytical data.
  • Remain current and up to date on changing technical improvements and code requirements in the industry.
  • Own elements of the Site Health and Safety system as directed by the Unit Manager
  • Assist with Environmental initiatives as directed by the Unit Manager
  • Supervise site Contract Electrical, Mechanical and Civil personnel in the execution of approved projects – including daily toolbox meetings.
  • Generate Daily Work Permits, RADARs, Excavation Permits, Scaffold Permits, and Hot Work Permits in order to facilitate contract work.
  • Sign and Seal Documents related to permits and work associated with area regulatory agencies such as Town of Princeton, WorkSafeBC, Technical Safety BC
  • Maintenance of a Permit To Practice program for the facility in accordance with EGBC guidelines

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering Major)

  • Professional Engineer designation
  • 10-15 years experience
  • Registration in the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
  • May consider B.Sc. in non-engineering degree with 10-15 years of experience
  • Capital project abilities / knowledge to include lead, scope, estimate, plan, schedule, detail design, procure, and commission.
  • Ability to build relationships within project teams and engage resources
  • Passion to drive results.
  • Proven problem solving, time management, conflict resolution and task group facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage activities during engineering phase of capital projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support systems as required.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $111,600 - $164,700 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
