Summary:

The Medical Group Practice Manager (Orthopedics) is the primary leader for the Orthopedic Department and is responsible for all day-to-day activities of a busy, fast-paced ambulatory practice. Working with the team, the highly competent leader manages personnel, financial, quality care, operations, process improvement, clinical practice, and regulatory compliance for the department. The Medical Group Practice Manager (Orthopedics) will serve as a critical liaison between hospital leaders, surgical department staff, system service line teams, and other ambulatory care leaders in one of the busiest departments in the organization. The individual is responsible for assisting with personnel management, including assisting with hiring, onboarding, evaluation, education, competency assessment, discipline, coaching, and mentorship. In addition, the individual collaborates with leadership and providers to lead change, process improvement, and in delivery of excellent patient care. The leader works in a physician dyad model, to move departmental and organizational projects forward. Strategic thinking and expertise in both people and process management are critical. Previous experience with ambulatory practice management is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and development of clinical and non-clinical personnel, including engagement, orientation, education, competency development and assessment, assistance with interviews, coaching and discipline, evaluations, scheduling, assisting with timecards, and documentation.

  • Assists with coverage of the department, within areas of expertise. Monitors billing, coding, charge posting

  • Lead process and quality improvement programs, including movement towards specialty accreditation. Assists with/plans performance improvement activities, including data collection, audits, research, and reporting

  • Provides day to day support for staff and providers, assuring efficient workflows. Works with surgical staff, scheduler, PAT staff, and operating room personnel to assure safe and efficient care of patients.

  • Assures the department meets regulatory and safety requirements, including maintaining readiness for surveys, investigation of incident reports, and development of action plans for clinical staff.
