Department EU ROC Overview

European ROC (Relay Operations Center) is the central control center for Transportation Execution across the Amazon's European Transportation network, supporting both domestic and inter-country transportation movements for European geographies. The team is responsible for planning and scheduling the trucks/vehicles to be placed at each of our fulfillment centers across Europe, based on various factors such as forecast, historical trends, vehicles capacity and carrier capabilities. ROC plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of Amazon's European transportation network and thereby has direct impact on Amazon's ability to serve customers on time.

Role Overview:

Logistic Specialist works across the EU in a cross-functional environment with the Supply Chain, Distribution Centers and the Retail organizations to determine future demand for Transportation resources, and translates the aforementioned into accurate capacity plans. S/he also maintains and reports up to date and accurate statistics, management reports and analysis. S/he also facilitates the flow of information between different stakeholders (Trans Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves any potential issues that impact customer experience and business continuity. Logistic Specialist also provides timely resolution to the issue in hand by researching and querying internal tools and by taking real-time decisions.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Communicate on day to day with internal stakeholders in order to understand and fix their concrete problems

  • Understand the issue and make best use of the available resources to resolve it

  • Able to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information to the relevant owners and teams according to processes and standard

  • Ensure to surpass all performance and quality goals

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written as one will be required to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Understand performance metrics to create analysis allowing to drive business results

  • Providing real-time customer experience by working in 24*7 operating environment

Key job responsibilities

Produce and deliver reports on key delivery metrics

Mentor or coach team members to help them develop new skills

Maintain high standards of work by following policies and procedures

A day in the life

This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.

About the team

As a Transportation Specialist, you’ll be responsible for resolving delivery performance issues that could negatively affect our customers. You’ll understand the unique challenges of the transportation team and manage them collaboratively with other cross-functional teams. Your motivation and commitment to our customers will ensure that our response to delivery issues is timely and efficient. You will be required to make real-time decisions effectively, by doing your research, weighing up your options and learning as you progress. The result of your work will be the timely delivery of Amazon packages to millions of customers around the world.

Basic Qualifications

  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership

  • Relevant experience in analysing data and creating reports for leadership

  • Relevant experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment

  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English (C1 Common European Framework of Reference, CEFR)

Preferred Qualifications

  • University Degree: Master or Bachelor, ideally in Logistic/transportation or any numerical oriented topic

  • Former experience in logistics/transportation industry or customer oriented role

  • Communication skills in other languages: Spanish, German, Polish, French or Italian
