Make is the leading visual platform for anyone to design, build, and automate anything—from tasks and workflows to apps and systems—without the need for coding skills. We believe that design has a big impact on business and currently, we are looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead our Design System and take our product to the next level. In this role, you’ll be working closely with our front-end UI engineering team to build Make’s Design System. This Design System is the foundation driving all of Make’s product experiences and helps us scale how we build our products.

What we are looking for:

• A designer who believes that working in diverse teams and with complex systems brings out even more creativity

• Someone who loves colors, fonts, and UI elements and seeing it all come together in a joyful and expressive system

• Willingness to learn about the different use cases and product needs and translate that into a structured system that has flexibility

• A thinking style that gives more weight to the user, experience, and brand needs over rigid adherence to “the rules”

• Hands-on experience with creating design system frameworks and style guides

• Ability to articulate a design rationale and goals to different levels of stakeholders

• Can apply UX/UI principles in service of a delightful but usable solution

• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and experience working with front-end and back-end teams

• Detail oriented and can think expansively about variations and constraints (e.g. mobile, accessibility, dark mode)

• Ability to give & receive constructive feedback in design reviews

• Minimum 4 years of experience in UX design

• Written and verbal fluency in English

What you’ll do:

• Build the Design System in partnership with other designers and a dedicated group of front-end engineers, but you are the leading voice for advocating and driving decisions about the overall Design System roadmap and outcomes

• Communicate the overall Design System vision through detailed visual representations of the future experience based on how all the elements will work together

• Deliver artifacts for the Design System such as style guides, high-fidelity mock-ups or prototypes

• Listen to customers and learn about the Make product experience, and identify solutions that will solve key customer problems

• Be an advocate for high quality design and consistency in the experience
