Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Sr. Mechanical Engineer responsible for creating mechanical designs within the constraints of project time, cost, and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design, project estimation, and coordination with electrical engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate engineering hours required for a project.

  • Perform mechanical design using SolidWorks, including 3D CAD design, mechanical detailing, dimensioning, and tolerances, following drawing procedures.

  • Coordinate electrical design with Electrical Engineer.

  • Create and maintain machine documentation, including bill of materials.

  • Conduct project checking, support manufacturing assembly, and provide project reporting and documentation.

  • Possess knowledge of electrical design, including electrical enclosure layout, design, and understanding of electrical schematics.

  • Develop PLC programming to create operating sequences for machines.

  • Design and troubleshoot hydraulic systems.

  • Design and troubleshoot pneumatic systems.

  • Coordinate all documentation, including shop manuals, customer manuals, and engineering manuals.

  • Support and troubleshoot engineering issues with assembly technicians, providing answers and support to the foreman and assembly team.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • 8+ years of related experience in mechanical engineering.

  • Proficiency in mechanical design, drawing practices, geometric tolerances, and dimensioning for machine tool design.

  • Experience with machine tool equipment, electrical systems, hydraulics, PLCs, and mechanical design.

  • Proficiency in software such as Excel, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Windows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

You will be part of an engineering team of 12, working in an engineering workspace that looks out at the shop floor. Expect constant communication within the department and with manufacturing. The standard shift is from 7:00am to 3:45pm. This is an opportunity in a growing company within the aerospace and auto industries, offering excellent benefits and employee offerings.
