Lead Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for creating mechanical designs within the constraints determined by the given project, time, cost, and performance as well as the following:

• Estimating engineering hours required for a project

• Mechanical design using SolidWorks (3D CAD Design, mechanical detailing, dimensioning, and tolerances, and following drawing procedures)

• Coordinating electrical design with Electrical Engineer

• Machine documentation, including bill of materials

• Project checking; Manufacturing assembly support; Project reporting and documentation

• Knowledge of Electrical design (electrical enclosure layout and design, understanding of electrical schematics)

• Knowledge of PLC programming (create operating sequence for machines)

• Hydraulic design (design and troubleshoot hydraulics)

• Pneumatic design (design and troubleshoot pneumatics)

• Coordinating all documentation including shop manuals, customer manuals, and engineering manuals

• Supporting and troubleshooting engineering issues with assembly technicians. Be available to answer questions and provide support to the foreman and/or assembly technicians
