Montgomery County Community College Coordinator of State Grant Programs and Scholarships in Pottstown, Pennsylvania

Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Coordinator of State Grant Programs and Scholarships position.  The Coordinator of State Grant Programs and Scholarships is responsible for the administration of foundation scholarship programs available at the College and the PA State Grant Programs. This position serves as functional lead for foundation scholarship programs and interacts with students and various College departments, outside agencies and other sponsoring institutions. The Coordinator of Scholarships and Special Programs also serves as a backup to other Financial Aid Specialists, as needed. The Coordinator of Scholarships, and Special Programs serves in a critical role to support the College mission in providing student access to higher education. Reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid.

*This position has college-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations. Location will mainly be at the Pottstown campus.

This position requires the new hire to submit the child abuse clearance, the PA State Police check, and FBI fingerprint results to Human Resources prior to their first day of employment.**

*This position requires a credit history check prior to starting on the first day.**

*This position has been approved for a flexible work option arrangement. Flexible work options can be ended at any time by the College, Cabinet, and/or supervisors based on employee performance and/or as institutional needs change.*

Basic Purpose: 

Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid, Coordinator of State Grant Programs and Scholarships is responsible for the administration of foundation scholarship programs available at the College and the PA State Grant Programs. This position serves as functional lead for foundation scholarship programs and interacts with students and various College departments, outside agencies and other sponsoring institutions. The Coordinator of Scholarships and Special Programs also serves as a backup to other Financial Aid Specialists, as needed. The Coordinator of Scholarships, and Special Programs serves in a critical role to support the College mission in providing student access to higher education.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                        

  • Administers all financial aid aspects of PA State Grant Special Programs including EAP, RTSS, PA-Tip, Chafee, Fostering Independence, and other programs; completing reconciliations and year end close processes. Ensures eligibility requirements are met and that awards are accurately posted to the system; adjusting other aid when required and returning excess funds to the correct funding source.
  • Manages the College-wide Foundation Scholarship eligibility review, selection process, and award allocation distribution process. Monitors the Foundation Scholarships and collaborates with Foundation staff to ensure scholarships are awarded in accordance with donor intent and budget allocation
  • Develops and documents standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and timely awarding, adjustments and disbursements of scholarships and state grant programs; train additional staff, as needed, to assist during peak periods.
  • Responsible for annual set-up and maintenance of the scholarship application software.  Works closely with Information Technology staff on testing and implementing updates to the scholarship software. 
  • Responsible for the administration of various scholarship and grant programs as needed.
  • Has college-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations.  Serve on division and college committees. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

1. Education/Training/Work Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree required. 

• At least three (3) years of directly related experience at a higher educat on institution, preferably in financial aid.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in technology applications including student information systems, internet, email, database, spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software experience

2. Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

• Good working knowledge of academia.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work with diverse individuals.

• Understanding of the community college mission.

• Strong technical skills
