Job Summary and Qualifications

This is a Part Time Position (20 Hours a Week!!)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead assistant will oversee daily operations of tasks related to housekeeping, maintenance and security at the FSER. Working Lead will also perform hands on daily cleaning tasks for patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, offices, clinic areas and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Housekeeping Department and in accordance with facility standards and objectives. Assist in the performance of duties necessary to maintain the physical structure and interior finishes of the facility in good repair and to provide a safe and secure environment for all patients, employees, visitors, medical staff and hospital assets. Work with the Director and FSER leadership to plan workflow and staffing needs for the designated site. Implements department specific policies, procedures and standards with adherence to facility, state, federal and Joint Commission criteria

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicates on a daily basis all staff and performance related issues or problems that occur to the main campus or FSER leadership.

  2. Responsible for creating facilities assistants staff schedules and determine coverage plans for staff vacations and time off.

  3. Provide direction and action to ensure excellence in cleanliness and ensuring the site is in good repair. Demonstrates the ability to communicate and develop teamwork with all staff working in the FSER Must be able to work under pressure in high energy, high traffic environment

  4. Maintains supply inventory related to job scope

  5. Maintains compliance with all JCAHO, regulatory standards and performs logs accordingly related to job scope

  6. Completes routine inspections of assigned areas.

  7. Assists in orienting, training and coaching of staff. Assists with increasing patient satisfaction scores. Perform all Housekeeping related tasks demonstrating service orientation to patients, visitors, fellow employees, doctors, nurses and other hospital staff.

  8. Coordinates removal of Hazardous Waste

  9. Familiarity with operation of heavy duty/electrical cleaning equipment. Monitors and dispatches requests for STAT discharge room cleaning.

  10. Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.

  11. Dusts horizontal surfaces, empties, wipes and relines wastebaskets. Damp wipe disinfects all furniture, cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms.

  12. Dust mops and damp mops floors, spot clean walls and windows. Polishes metal surfaces, replenishes paper and soap supplies.

  13. Strips bed linens to perform discharge cleaning. Performs discharge cleaning as needed Uses a safety ladder to remove and replace cubicle curtains.

  14. Performs precaution room cleaning as needed. Vacuums carpets, spot cleans as needed

  15. Measure and mix bleach and other cleaning solutions. Assist in cleaning up of spills as needed

  16. Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommend repairs as needed. Strips and waxes hard floor surfaces

  17. Perform minor facility repairs such as painting, plumbing, wall patching, spot stain removal and others repairs as directed.

  18. Utilize a variety of equipment to maintain the facility, including: power tools, basic tools, and other maintenance and cleaning equipment.

  19. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and tools as required.

  20. Performs maintenance duties to all physical structures of facility and complies with all building safety codes.

  21. Maintains compliance with standard checks and keeps records of all repairs performed on any equipment or system in conjunction with main campus reporting process.

  22. Performs manual duties as requested (i.e. moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).

  23. Performs light grounds keeping tasks to maintain a safe and clean exterior

  24. Observe and report the need for advanced repairs to furniture, building and fixtures to main campus Assist the Freestanding Emergency Department Director with all security functions as they pertain to Freestanding Emergency Department.

  25. Assess security priorities and acts on such priorities in a timely manner. In case of fire or other internal disaster, assists in evacuating patients In case of a community disaster, assists nursing as needed

  26. Strive to develop a team environment with all disciplines working at the site. Per the direction of the FSER Management perform other duties as assigned to ensure effective patient and operational flow of the FSER

Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or GED

  2. 1-3 Years Experience
