Job Summary

The Workday Administrator, Senior is the primary administrator and subject matter expert for the Workday system on an ongoing basis. The Workday Administrator, Senior is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the performance and integrity of the Workday systems. In collaboration with the Information Systems (IS), the Workday Administrator, Senior will design, review, and refine system configurations, updates, and alerts and take actions to address any issues identified. This position will collaborate with the IS Development Teams to ensure that appropriate system checks and balances are integrated into coding and testing phases and escalate the most complex Workday system issues to IS leadership as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead in maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing the Workday environment to ensure optimal system performance and reliability, including applying necessary patches and upgrades, as required.

  • Configure the Workday system according to the specific needs of the organization, including workflows, user access levels, and security measures.

  • Collaborate closely with staff to ensure that the Workday system is tailored to meet their needs and that any issues they encounter are promptly addressed.

  • Provide support and training to the end users of the Workday system, including creating training materials, conducting user training sessions, and addressing user queries and concerns.

  • Conduct regular system tests to validate the functionality of the Workday system and its components, and validate updates, enhancements, and changes before they are deployed to the production environment.

  • Ensure the Workday system adheres to all applicable data security standards and regulations. Regularly review and update security configurations, as needed.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues as they arise. Escalate the most complex issues to IS leadership or Workday support as necessary.

  • Regularly monitor system performance and generate reports on system usage, performance, and issue resolution. Use this data to recommend system enhancements and optimizations.

  • Lead projects related to the Workday system, such as system upgrades, module implementations, and system integrations.

  • Document all system changes, issues, and resolutions. Share knowledge with team members and end users to enhance overall system understanding and usage.

    Experience and/or Education

    Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of Workday administration experience, including enterprise applications installation, administration and upgrade experience

  • Experience with some or all of the following:

  • Scripting and automation

  • ERP experience

  • Experience with Workday HR Modules

  • Systems integration and data flow

  • Understanding of Database administration

  • Project management practices

  • Cloud and AAS experience

  • ITIL concepts and practices

  • Concepts of Managed Care

    Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred

  • Workday certifications

  • Mid-level Microsoft certifications preferred

  • Additional experience in related technology support and/or operational positions preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Data integration strategy best practices, such as ETL

  • Compute environments, such as server hardware, storage and virtualization

  • Microsoft server operating systems and core services, such as Active Directory

  • Cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services

  • Data protection solutions

  • Troubleshooting performance issues and root causes

  • Monitoring systems and best practices

  • Principles of application design and best practices

  • Knowledge of project management practices

  • Awareness or knowledge of ITIL and ITSM governance concepts
