OVERVIEW

BMWC is an industrial construction company seeking a Site Quality Lead to join the Quality Team. This crucial position allows you to contribute to the delivery of large-scale industrial construction projects.
You will be part of a top-performing project team and report to an expert, Quality Director in the industry. This position regularly interacts with project managers, project engineers, site supervisors, and field employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Site Quality Lead, you will:
Participate in safety meetings
Follow all safety related procedures and rules
Report and stop work on all unsafe conditions and acts
Perform Safety observations and report findings to Safety staff
Review applicable plans and drawings; have copies as needed during inspections
Review and understand requirements of customer specifications and know where to find them
Know the material of construction requirements for the inspected items
Understand what the governing construction codes and client specification requirements are for all project activities
Follow all requirements for ASME/NB Code Work
Schedule and work with Authorized Inspector (AI) from Authorized Inspection Agency
Understand which welding procedures are to be used for various applications (the welding procedures are available on the BMWC internet site)
Understand the Inspection and Test plan requirements applicable to the work scope and be able to communicate the witness and hold points to the foremen
Keep in good communications with the foremen in the area or project that he is assigned to and keep up with inspections as required and the associated documentation
Notify supervisor if communication lanes are insufficient or if having trouble keeping up on inspections
Ensure that the WPS’s are being adhered to by performing in-process inspections, by monitoring the welders on WPS variables, reporting any deficiencies to foremen and supervisor
Ensure that the welders are qualified for the welding being performed
WPQ’s are on BMWC internet and TOPS
Keep a qualified welder log for the Project
Verify continuity of welders
Inspect welds for discontinuities. Check code for acceptable value limits
Indicate if the weld is acceptable, or is rejected, mark problem areas and report the issue to the foreman
Inspect temporary attachments, such as lifting lugs, pad eyes, etc. welds and ensure required NDE is performed
Ensure each weld is assigned a number
Number the welds per project requirements
Document all inspections on the appropriate report(s) and/or log(s)
Inspection can be but not limited to the following:
Material Receipt
Civil (Dirt/Concrete and associated components)
Equipment (Setting and Alignment)
Coatings
Insulation
Structural (Bolting and Welding)
Piping/Tubing (Bolting and Welding)
Subcontractor Scopes, as necessary
Maintain the up-to-date weld maps and weld logs (Preferably in electronic form)
These forms are to be complete, properly signed off and filed so as to be easily retrievable and available for inclusion in turnover packages or as per your supervisor’s instructions
Responsibilities regarding NDE/PWHT:
Ensure that all required NDE/PWHT for the welds within the area/project have been performed as required
Monitor and maintain welders NDE percentage requirements
Monitor welds requiring NDE/PWHT to be performed;
Flags the weld with appropriate ribbon/tagging
Fills out and forward the appropriate request form
Ensures that reports obtained from the performing NDE technician are correct and complete
Promptly files NDE/PWHT reports in turnover package and completed NDE/PWHT binder or per supervisor’s instructions
Perform required NDE as certified by BMWC and as allowed by the owner
Perform Pressure test and Turnover Package maintenance
Collect and prepare all inspection and testing documentation for inclusion into the turnover package at the completion of work scope
Ensure that actual hydro test boundaries are as identified per project requirements
Select the appropriate inspection forms to be included in the pressure test package
Examine the piping within the pressure test boundaries by walk‐down prior to pressure testing to verify that it conforms to all of the applicable examination requirements of the construction code and project specifications and that it is per the engineering design and drawings
Utilize project specific punch lists forms or form to identify any incomplete items of work and/or errors in the installation. Present punch list to supervision and follow up when informed of item completion
Once the equipment and/or piping is acceptable to pressure test and all required NDE is performed and cleared sign off on the pressure test form to release for test
Ensure all required pressure test release signatures are completed prior to the test as applicable
Provide notice of and witness pressure tests to verify they meet code, client, and BMWC requirements
Verify that all reinstatement items that are to be completed after the pressure‐test such as test blind removal and instrument installations are complete
Perform a similar piping walk‐down and document the examination on the project specific form(s), if pressure testing is not required
If turnover scheduling requires that turnover take place prior to all elements being completed, then any remaining elements within contract documents will be documented
The Inspector is responsible to compile all the appropriate documents into the turnover package as the work progresses and perform a review of the package
Mentors Inspectors and Interns as needed
Produces documentation that is legible, neat, concise, and complete
Supervise Site Quality Inspector(s) and interns, when applicable
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma required, post-secondary preferred
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in inspections and 10 Years of experience in the construction industry with a minimum of 3 years “hands-on” field experience (preferably in heavy industrial)
Certified Welding Inspector with AWS or similar
PT, MT, and UT Thickness experience – preferred
Advanced knowledge/process of applicable codes Including R-stamp work
ASME Codes and application of same
Knowledgeable with computers
Leaning towards proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
