Job Summary

The Data Quality Analyst is responsible for monitoring and assessing the accuracy and integrity of the data within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). In collaboration with EDW and Business Intelligence Teams, the Data Quality Analyst will design, review, and refine data quality reports and alerts and take actions to remedy issues detected. This position will partner with the EDW Development Teams to ensure that proper data quality checks are included in code and testing suites and escalate data quality issues to EDW leadership as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assess the current state of data quality within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), running data profiling.

  • Participate in establishing, monitoring, and reporting on target goals for data quality improvement.

  • Identify optimal approaches for resolving data quality issues to achieve targets.

  • Work within and beyond EDW areas to implement improvement approaches.

  • Monitor and track ongoing data quality levels.

  • Ensure that adequate quality is maintained so the data can effectively support business processes.

  • Resolve and escalate data quality issues proactively and in a timely manner.

  • Work in a collaborative fashion with other Data Quality Analysts, ISBI resources and overall champion or sponsor the data governance/quality program.

  • Escalate issues exceeding the scope of this position to the data quality champion or other business leaders.

  • Influence changes to business processes and restrict access to applications and data to resolve or suspend behaviors impacting negatively on data quality.

  • Identify data quality metrics and execute data quality audits to benchmark the state of data quality.

  • Participate in development of monitoring and alerting solutions for identifying potential data quality issues.

  • Regularly monitor alerts and take appropriate actions to resolve issues before they impact business activities.

  • Regularly expose data quality metrics via standard reporting mechanisms, e.g., data quality scorecard or dashboard.

  • Engage with business leadership to quantify and articulate the business impact of data quality issues.

  • Follow prescribed data quality methodologies to execute data quality improvement projects.

  • Actively participate in the design and deployment of applications and data integration processes to ensure standards and controls to ensure high quality of data are implemented.

  • Publicize successes to further engage individuals at all levels of the organization.

    Experience and/or Education

    Required

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience that includes some or all of the following:

  • Analyzing data quality and recommending process improvements

  • Continuously monitoring data quality and associated reports

  • Engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Implementing data quality initiatives

  • Experience with Agile frameworks

  • Experience working in health care payer/managed care organizations

    Preferred

  • Experience with Snowflake and MS Azure cloud

  • 2 years of SQL experience

  • Experience in planning or leading data quality initiatives

  • Experience with and basic knowledge of statistics, control charts and process controls

  • Experience in the healthcare or health insurance industry

  • Experience with managed care concepts and health plan business processes

  • Experience with Medicaid and Medicare programs

  • Experience applying system development methodologies

  • Data engineering and EDW/Systems architecture experience
