Farmer Brothers District Manager in Portland, Oregon

The District Manager is responsible for total market accountability; directly overseeing a team of Route Sales Managers, as well as providing indirect oversight of sales account management, local inventory management and equipment service. Key responsibilities include driving profitability thru sales, service, and delivery of coffee, tea, and related products to our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and execution of annual business plan and budget, P & L oversight for assigned locations, and partners with leadership to manage expense budgets.

  • Ensures RSMs have a key account plan for penetrating existing accounts, and works 1x1 with them to ensure execution

  • Participates in customer business reviews, attends customer calls as needed and directs activities to sell additional products to existing customers.

  • Owns improvement of key service metrics and ensuring customer issues are resolved quickly, with a focus on growing customer retention metrics.

  • Builds productive cross-functional relationships to drive shared KPI’s.

  • Ensures Farmer Brothers route management process is executed to improve revenue per route, revenue per stop, and revenue per FTE across the district.

  • Ensure route plans are set and results reviewed weekly at each location.

  • Periodically conducts route ride-a-longs with Route Sales Representatives (RSRs) and ensures RSM’s are executing the required number of route ride-a-longs each month.

  • Charged with building a high-performing team by providing training, coaching, development, and accountability.

  • Responsible for leading RSM’s to develop talent within the district thru regular market visits RSM work-withs.

  • Responsible for hiring process, with a commitment to diversity and the successful on-boarding of new employees within the district, to include succession planning.

  • Ensures the district is following all OSHA, FDA and company safety standards.

  • Owns delivery of financial targets for the district by managing costs to budget, increasing route productivity and growing operating income for the district.

  • Ensures district compliance with all asset and inventory management policies and addresses A/R issues as needed.

  • Responsible for managing costs to plan, increasing route productivity, and growing operating income for the region.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 + years of sales and account management experience.

  • Masters’ degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in Food & Beverage Sales, Consumer Product Sales, Coffee/Team or related customer service business-to-business field.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communications.

  • Must have experience with leading and managing people

  • Demonstrated knowledge with Finance, Pricing, and Analysis.

  • Previous Coffee experience a plus.

  • Proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office (ie. Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Collaborative approach.

  • Strong analytical skill set.
