Actalent Civil Engineer in Portland, Oregon
Actalent is currently seeking a Professionally Licensed Civil Engineer for an Oregon based company. This position will be fully remote.
As a Civil Engineer, you will leverage your experience in site/civil land development engineering and permitting to act as the primary point of contact with client personnel, manage projects, and lead and mentor team members. Experience in oil and shale gas operations, energy sector facilities, or similar industries is a plus. Any experience in industrial railroad design and/or industrial plant site development will be advantageous. Projects will include large oil & gas, manufacturing and/or chemical facilities, pulp & paper, utilities, private marine & ports, and carbon capture projects ranging from $10M-$50M.
Collaborate and direct the drafting and design of civil engineering elements. Perform own drafting and design with CAD software as necessary.
Prepare technical writing for incorporation into reports and proposals.
Understand and incorporate local, state, and federal land use and environmental laws and requirements relative to civil engineering projects.
Perform site/civil land development engineering. Typical designs include site layout and access, roadways and pavement (gravel, concrete, and asphalt), minor channelization, grading, survey incorporation, stormwater management, containment design and calculations, and underground structures (e.g., vaults, utilities, HDD).
Manage or support the project manager with subcontracted vendors (e.g., surveyors and 3D scanners, rail specialists, HDD specialists, natural resources/permitting specialists, product vendors, geotechnical engineers).
Estimate costs and schedule for civil engineering and design scopes of work. Estimate contractor costs for civil engineering designs at a high level for total installed cost estimates.
Lead and assist with project permitting efforts. Interact with and present to municipal agencies and permitting groups.
Work closely with and assist other engineering disciplines in support of projects.
Ability to travel approximately 5-10% of the time throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Qualifications
BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and PE license
6+ years of experience in site/civil land development engineering and permitting, including land development planning, permitting, stormwater management, and infrastructure design
Strong technical skills, analytical ability, and attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication and management skills
Ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as leading a team with energy and enthusiasm
Familiar with MS Project and Office Suite as well as various CAD software - AutoCAD and Civil 3D are primarily used
Experience with client interface desired
Experience in grading, wastewater, stormwater, and site development
Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with experience utilizing stamp on projects
Experience with project management and site plan development
Ability to develop creative solutions to clients' unique problems

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
- Permanently 100% remote- Performance based bonuses paid out at the end of the year- 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off- Banked hours - any hours worked over 80 in a 2 week period goes into "the bank". Engineers have the option to be paid for that at the end of each quarter. At the end of the year, engineers also will be compensated for all remaining PTO over 40 hours.- 40 hours of PTO rolls over to the next year
