Job Title: Accessioner
Job Description
The Accessioner is responsible for handling all specimens and lab samples in a safe and efficient manner, reviewing specimen packages for complete information, and routing/delivering specimens to the appropriate destination within the lab. This role is vital for maintaining the accuracy and efficiency of lab operations.
Responsibilities
Handle all specimens and lab samples safely and efficiently, including blood, saliva, urine, stool, etc.
Review specimen packages for complete information.
Route and deliver specimens to the appropriate destination within the lab.
Scan or manually enter specimen and patient information into the internal system, Touch.
Sort samples into specific bins based on category and/or lab code.
Maintain an inclusive environment through persistent self-reflection.
Build a culture of care, engagement, and recognition with clear outcomes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous lab experience and/or science experience (preferred but not required)
Work Environment
The work environment is a very large diagnostic lab space, serving as the central lab for all LabCorp patient samples in Oregon and SW Washington. It is a fast-paced, high-throughput lab environment, especially during the night shift, as samples need to be processed within a 24-48 hour window. The location is LabCorp Halsey Laboratory for Oregon & SW Washington, 4400 NE Halsey Street, Building 3, Portland, OR (formerly Providence Core Lab). The contract duration is initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
