General Summary:
This role is a leader of enterprise Strategy & Transformation Management and partners with senior leaders from across the organization to align our change investments to deliver the capabilities required to achieve our strategic goals and to ensure the success of the company and its people.
This role leads a holistic planning process prioritizing the investments executive level change funds and focuses them on strategic priorities, financial returns on investments, and our ability to deliver. Working in an embedded fashion with initiative owners, this individual is accountable to create visibility for senior executives into a chosen set of transformational initiatives; to ensure that best practices are followed, and that initiatives are positioned for success; to raise and resolve issues in a manner that increases pace of progress and improves chances of realizing full value; to partner with leaders to create measures of progress and value creation, all while tracking and reporting on these throughout the life of the initiative.
This role will lead a team which partners with the business to ensure progress and value on transformation projects and programs deliver significant business value and operational efficiencies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Lead a holistic business transformation planning process in partnership with business leaders across the company, to ensure our annual investment plan and actions are aligned with our strategic goals and to realize the growth and efficiencies desired by the Company.
Ensure the ‘sum of the parts’ of the plan, including defining scope/objectives, resource planning, budgeting, and deliverables for the Program Management Team will deliver desired outcomes.
Ensure delivery of high value for the business and technology investments made in the company to ensure benefits realization accountability. Role will be responsible for creating or confirming and communicating a holistic view of metrics for business and technology plans. Data may be sourced from various business and IT leaders, but this role will be responsible for bringing it all together and ensuring an ongoing review/discussion with the senior team.
Lead the evaluation and prioritization of initiatives under consideration, including working with finance and change teams to deliver solid CBAs to justify investments and support prioritization.
Design and delivery of a process to provide visibility to senior executives on a chosen set of transformational initiatives.
Provide advice and guidance on design, set-up and execution (i.e., road mapping) of transformation initiatives and strategic projects
Provide ongoing communication of status, risk and issue management, and prioritization of initiatives in the portfolio
Facilitate effective creation, alignment, reporting and delivery of all transformation initiatives and strategic projects.
Enforce program management methodology and supporting tools and monitor adherence/ delivery against these standards.
Responsible for definition and refinement of best practices for initiatives within purview.
Monitor and report on program progress towards financial and non-financial impacts to the Steering Committee (SteerCo).
Manage issue identification and resolution process; escalate to SteerCo when necessary.
Support executive and board level communications needed in support of business plans.
Translate business strategy into operational plans to deliver results.
Lead special projects on behalf of senior team as needs arise within the Company.
Work closely with technology leaders to ensure alignment of technology strategy and IT plans across capability areas (e.g., benefits, admin, acquisition, etc.) to ensure all investments align with outcomes set in the business plan.
Ensure effective coordination with IT Governance across the Enterprise, while delivering a clear and cohesive approach to governance for the Strategy & Transformation Management team.
Drive business case development to articulate returns and secure necessary investments for advancing strategy.

Job Specifications
Undergraduate degree required, Masters preferred
Significant industry and leadership experience required
Seven to ten plus years’ experience in a senior-level strategic position
Effective influencing, communication and collaboration across multiple business functions.
Strong business acumen and technology knowledge required to deliver a holistic plan that delivers the greatest value possible.
Able to drive strategic and detailed analysis and summarize effectively to support decision making by others.
Strong driver of results, but able to partner with others to achieve results.
Able to balance a support function as contributing member of senior team.
Strong people leader and developer of talent for the Enterprise.
Internal and external mindset to ensure optimal investments.
Strong program management expertise.
IT experience leveraging technology to achieve business outcomes.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$184,100.00-$348,000.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
