University of Maine System Financial Analyst and Business Manager (Two Positions) in Portland, Maine

The University of Southern Maine invites applications for the position of Financial Analyst and Business Manager (two vacancies). The Financial Analyst and Business Manager (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1088r968bh1qRjeWcdGTINhHWjwbBY3nc/view?usp=sharing) reports to the Chief Business Officer and Vice President of Finance and Administration and collaborates with assigned divisional and/or college leadership to strategize, plan, and formulate budgets and financial forecasts, both short- and long-term. They will liaise with departments such as human resources, risk management, and procurement to align financial goals and compliance standards. This role is also responsible for executing accounting transactions and financial reconciliation, as well as preparing financial reports to aid in the development of the university’s budgeting process.

This is a full-time position with a starting annual of $75,000 plus a 10% employer retirement contribution. This position will be based primarily on the Portland Campus. A hybrid work schedule is negotiable and may be considered after 6 months of employment.

Required:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or related master’s degree preferred; will consider bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field with significant related experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of systems and applications relevant to finance and budget management.

  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate reports of financial information, statements, and financial modeling.

  • Ability to read and interpret University policies and procedures.

  • Convey and present financial concepts to all audiences in ways they will understand.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work with Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.) and queries in a financial enterprise system.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education.
