University of Maine System Curriculum Design & Development Specialist - STEM (Temporary) in Portland, Maine
The University of Southern Maine is seeking a motivated individual to help refine & expand our camp curriculum for our “Programming in Minecraft”, “Astrophysics in Minecraft”, and other curricula for our STEM-focused K-12 camp sessions.
The University of Southern Maine’s STEM Outreach Program (https://usm.maine.edu/stem-outreach/) is part of the College of Science, Technology and Health and oversees the Maine Robotics programs, along with the Southworth Planetarium, and coordinates numerous K-12 STEM outreach programs that reside at USM.
The Curriculum Designer & Development Specialist would be responsible for the following:
● Designing new “Engineering in Minecraft” camp curriculum
● Improve and solidify “Astrophysics in Minecraft” & “Programming in Minecraft” curricula
● Set up server to run the aforementioned sessions, including any software installation & immersive world creation
In addition, we are seeking an individual who would be able to assist our Camp Leaders in designing & drafting camp curricula. The University of Southern Maine and our STEM Outreach Program are invested in bringing camp offerings to a wider audience.
This is a temporary assignment that would run through Spring 2025 and would pay $18.00 - $19.00/hour depending on experience.

Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Experience working with the technology used in camp, such as the LEGO Robotics programming platform, Minecraft Education, and CAD programs.
● Experience learning design instructional design, or content development.
● Summer camp experience preferred, but not required.
