AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.

  • Direct and manage all warehouse operations, optimizing warehouse capacity, inventory, and floor utilization to increase department productivity, operating within budget controls.

  • Audit equipment, processes and procedures for effectiveness and efficiency. Establish accountability and take corrective action when necessary.

  • Monitor, verify, and coordinate 3rd party warehousing as required.

  • Manage effective employee relations.

  • Manage metrics associated with both on and off-site operations which include direct labor costs, shipment errors on product shortages and damaged product.

  • Maintain relationships with customer, vendors, transportation entities and corporate personnel. Resolve customer complaints.

  • Manage safety, loss control, food safety and quality systems.

  • Lead the development, planning and implementation of systems ensuring proficient methods of transportation of ingredients, packaging, and finished product to and from the facility.

  • Effectively communicate policy and procedure changes, operational updates, safety and quality concerns. Provide feedback on department goals.

  • Lead investigations, analyze for root cause, promptly report, and recommend corrective action.

  • Maintain inventories in JDE system. Monitor usage. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

  • Manage physical inventory counts.

  • Responsible for off duty emergency calls that cannot be resolved within the department.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, or related field preferred.

  • Five years’ experience in dairy or food production, manufacturing, industrial process operations or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Three years of supervisory experience, preferred.
