The Technical Engineering Manager will lead and direct all Tool Room Operations and all Automation Projects from existing production to new tool development. Works directly with with Scheduling and Technician Teams to coordinate tooling PMs and repairs as well as operations to address solutions for gaps.

Will build and mantain a Technical Engineering Management Program (Life of Tool). Will maintain a robust PM System for current tooling to increase reliability, set work schedules to adhere to the timeliness of completion to meet/maintain production schedules, and develop programs to maintain equipment while working closely with the maintenance departments through the CMMS.

Will serve as our Technical Expert when working with customers and have responsibility for new tool development internally through the development of tool design, advancements in tooling and automation technology, and tooling build techniques.

Will support the Manufacturing, Process, and Commercial engineering groups in new product development and existing optimizations. The Technical Engineering Manager will build relationships with customers and outside tool and automation shops and leverage decisions based on resources to “make or buy” while identifying IP (Intellectual Property) that should be kept internal.

This position will be responsible for department expenses and build justifications for new equipment / expansions / department growth to develop an industry leading tooling department for molding and extrusion as well as a world class automation group that can be utilized throughout the BU.

The Technical Engineering Manager will develop training programs for personnel to stay at the forefront of the industry, identify new equipment and technology that is applicable to the growth of the department, develop KPIs for the department and drive the performance of those KPIs.- Will work with a cross functional team to maintain open and consistent communication through all facets of the tooling and automation side of the projects

Key Accountabilities

  • Directs and Coordinates Tool Room activities for PM/Repair/new tool builds

  • Work directly with project teams to provide tooling and automation estimates where needed.

  • Identify needs for tooling and automation across the BU.

  • Responsible for tooling including vendor choice, design optimization, on-time delivery.

  • Responsible for automation including make or buy, design optimization, on-time delivery. --

  • Implements tooling program which includes annual customer tools summaries for all tools, suggested CAPEX investments for customer and plant, PM schedules and analysis for reactive maintenance issues.

  • Develops production automation to reduce costs, improve quality and efficiency.

  • Works with other sites to advice on potential automation projects.

  • Develop the skills of and continued learnings of all automation disciplines within the department

  • Develops and implements department strategies, policies, procedures, and goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;- required; Master's in Engineering or Business; Preferred.--

  • 7+ years experience in Molding of Silicone, Rubber Polymers, Thermosets & Thermoplastics; Required.

  • Demonstrated Tool & Die / Mold Design Experience; Required.

  • Proven knowledge of technology & procedures for tool making process; Required.

  • 5+ years experience with leading/mentoring and coaching technical staff and teams; Required.--

  • 3+ years experience managing P&L; Preferred.
