This is a position working in a commercial laundry facility on a Federal AbilityOne Contract.The AbilityOne Program is one of the largest sources of employment in the United States for people who are blind or have significant disabilities. More than 440 nonprofit organizations employ these individuals and provide quality products and services to the Federal Government at a fair market price.
Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide direct service and actually do the work to be done in the areas of assignment primarily related to healthcare laundry services throughout the plant. Various duties may include all or part of duties as listed. Regular attendance is a most important job requirement and an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions:
- Loads, handles, sorts and records incoming soiled textiles; prepares and transfers textiles to other departments.
- Feeds and operates garment machinery, or sorts and folds for final finishing
- Folds textiles by hand or feeds into ironing or folding machines
- Continuously grasps, sorts and grades clean textiles.
- Processes for delivery clean linens by stacking, counting, wrapping, cart building, and the transferring of carts.
- Hand load/unload textiles from conventional washers and dryers
- Perform quality checks during work performance and upon work completion
- Evaluate the need for supplies and maintenance in the areas assigned and communicates needs to designated personnel.
- Perform preventive maintenance prior to use of equipment and to use equipment appropriately. Maintain a safe, clean and healthy work environment.
- Performs job rotations as assigned
