Responsibilities

Weatherford have a great opportunity for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join the team in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The Accounting Supervisor will proactively and positively provide input to many departments, functions and procedures to improve business flow and customer service, whilst maintaining focus on the core objective, which is to get cash efficiently into the business. This position requires constant communication with various stakeholders within the entity, Auditors and Tax authorities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General accounting oversight including but not limited to; banking and payment approvals, cashflow preparation, etc.

  • Review, report and analyze key P&L related activities including RD&E, R&M and other businesses outside of Operations model

  • Provide Support during the Annual Financial Statutory Audits

  • Provide supports to Tax function, during various tax audits

  • Support to Country’s Finance Manager for analysis and monthly allocation of Shared and Support Costs, including forecast and budget processes.

  • Ensure ongoing integrity and accuracy in our balance sheet with quarterly risk reviews and variance reporting

  • Coordinate and prepare year-end financial statements as main focal point for statutory audit of Weatherford Nigeria’s entities; including ETB, GAAP to STAT adjustments reviews

  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Finance Manager or Country’s Management.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Graduate degree in Accounting and its related field.

  • 3-5 years working experience.

  • Strong organization skills.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Advanced excel knowledge.

  • Can adapt to a fast-paced organization.

  • Exercise initiative to improve accounting routines and financial reporting.

  • Ability to work as a team to meet company objectives and targets.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Experience dealing with large blue chip companies.

  • Diligent, hardworking, committed, flexible, good interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent team spirit, willing to work additional hours to meet set targets,.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.

  • Willing to travel

    PREFERRED:

  • Experience with Caseware / JD Edwards / Essbase would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of current legislations, include taxation.

  • Knowledge of revenue recognition policies.

  • Experience of working for a similar sized organisation.

  • Previous experience in the oil industry.
