We have an excellent opportunity to join a growing CPG company here in the area looking to bring on a Sr. Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will take ownership of their work, thrive in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate strong independent problem-solving skills. This role is pivotal in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the month-end close process. Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is a plus.

responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Account Reconciliations

  2. Prepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  3. Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly.

  4. Month-End Close Assistance

  5. Support the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and financial reporting.

  6. Ensure all deadlines are met for accurate financial reporting.

  7. Sales and Use Tax Compliance

  8. Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in accordance with state and local regulations.

  9. Research and resolve tax discrepancies or issues as needed.

  10. GAAP Compliance

  11. Ensure financial statements comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  12. Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and assist in implementing new requirements.

  13. Ownership of Work

  14. Take responsibility for assigned tasks and ensure their completion with minimal supervision.

  15. Proactively identify areas for process improvement and efficiency.

  16. Collaboration

  17. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business operations.

  18. Provide assistance during audits and ensure compliance with internal controls.

qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting,.

  • 2-4 years of accounting experience, with familiarity in account reconciliations, sales and use tax, and month-end close processes.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., JD Edwards, SAP and Excel.

  • Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is highly desirable.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
