McLaren Health Care Physical Therapist Assistant - McLaren Careers in Pontiac, Michigan

Position Summary

:

Works under the direction and supervision of the physical therapist. The physical therapist assistant implements selected components of patient interventions (treatment), obtains data related to the interventions provided, and makes modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient as directed by the physical therapist or to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned

:

1.

Implements the individualized plan of care as established by the physical therapist.

2.

Adjusts treatment interventions in response to patient feedback, objective data and observation within the established plan of care. Identifies need for changes in plan of care and communicates with supervising physical therapist.

3.

Assists the physical therapist with managing the established discharge plan throughout treatment.

4.

Supervises and delegates to ancillary staff and students consistent with state laws and department policy.

5.

Completes legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy and procedure and in accordance with accreditation requirements and insurance regulations.

6.

Communicates with the patient, family, caregivers, significant others, and members of the health care team to promote maximum benefit of care utilizing AIDET.

7.

Identifies educational needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and provides education to meet those needs.

8.

Participates in professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, including in-service meetings, workshops, and by reading current literature concerning scope of practice.

9.

Actively participates in quality improvement activities.

10.

Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.

Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

11.

Functions within scope of practice as defined by the state’s practice act.

12.

Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant program.

  • Current state Board of Physical Therapist Assistant licensure.

  • BLS certification.

Preferred:

  • One year of physical therapist assistant experience.
