Position Summary

We are seeking a Mechanics Assistant to play a crucial supporting role in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment. Your responsibilities include assisting with preventative maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and gathering materials for ongoing projects to ensure efficient operations. You will maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop, toolboxes, workstations, and overall grounds. Additionally, you will assist in managing equipment and supply inventory and actively participate in on-the-job training as needed. Your role is essential in contributing to the smooth functioning of the shop and ensuring that assignments are completed accurately and on time.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventative maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment (brakes, oil changes, greasing, etc.)
  • Gather materials for upcoming and ongoing projects to ensure assignments are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Responsible for keeping the mechanics bay neat and organized
  • Assist with equipment inventory and supply inventory
  • Participate in on-the-job training as needed

     Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1+ years of experience with mechanics/wrenching
  • Self-motivated and able to keep up in fast paced setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to receive constructive criticism
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
