Robert Half Senior Cost Accountant in Plymouth, Minnesota

Description

Our client is in search of a diligent Senior Cost Accountant to join their team in the manufacturing sector, located near Plymouth, Minnesota. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be tasked with leading cost accounting functions, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, and collaborating with various teams to optimize inventory management and cost control.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Cost Accounting function within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure accurate inventory valuation.

• Investigate, analyze, and report on transactions and manufacturing variances in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to maintain the accuracy and reliability of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routings.

• Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and reports for all inventory-related activities including material consumption, labor, and overhead.

• Perform settlement processes to cost inventory production.

• Analyze aged, obsolete, and excess inventory to establish reserves in accordance with corporate policy.

• Maintain fixed assets ledgers and monitor the status of capital projects to ensure proper accounting treatment.

• Support the month-end close process, including journal entries related to inventory and fixed assets.

• Collaborate with operation and supply chain teams to optimize inventory management and cost control.

• Assist with all audits and prepare monthly cost reports.

Requirements

• Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting

• Proficiency in ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is essential

• Extensive knowledge and practical experience in Accounting Functions

• Demonstrated ability in Cost Accounting

• SAP expertise is a plus, need large ERP experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification would be advantageous

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
