Your Role: Embedded software development is continually playing a more critical role in the success of modern medical devices. As Software Product Owner, you are the voice of software on a major medical device product. Working collaboratively with leaders and subject matter authorities across the R&D organization, you bring together everything needed to create life-saving and sustaining medical device software that delights customers and is ready to meet current and future business needs. What you'll be doing Voice of software architecture for the Acute R&D software organization. Defines and communicates architecture decisions and rationale. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing the technology roadmap and making technology decisions for implementation. Recommend architecture/design-related improvements to the Product Owner, including Cybersecurity and other considerations. Elicit and communicate software quality attributes with internal team members; upholds those quality attributes when making architecture and design decisions. Accountable for implementation quality and software integration on a software platform involving multiple teams and at times multiple versions of software in development concurrently. Mentor and guide software developers to build useful architecture and design, accountable for related regulatory documentation. Introduce and/or reinforce best-practices in embedded software development to the teams. Define and guide our development/build tools towards continuous integration and continuous compliance. What you will bring: Experience leading and developing architecture on a mid-large real-time embedded system, with multiple geographically dispersed teams. Excellent communication and documentation skills and a collaborative mentality; able to engage and draw input from cross-functional personnel. Eye for business; to support and explain how decisions impact timeline and product quality, sometimes to non-technical businesspeople. Experience developing Object-Oriented code in C++; strong experience using design patterns and refactoring, and other software development standard methodologies. Strong focus on architecture relating to crafting cyber-secure systems, integrating simulators, crafting for test automation. Experience integrating systems that also have a portion of the design developed in model-based tools, especially MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow. Background and/or experience: Bachelor degree in relevant engineering subject Experienced with ISO, FDA, and other software-related regulatory standards. 7+ years experience working in the Medical Device industry 10+ years experience developing embedded software using C++ 3+ years acting as Software Architect on a real-time embedded software product Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $152,000 to $209,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
