Your role at Clorox:
The Associate Director, Head of Toxicology and Product Safety will lead the Product Safety team within the Global Stewardship department, part of the broader R&D organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and compliance of our products, managing product safety programs, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve our product safety objectives for the entire Clorox product portfolio by utilizing strong technical and people management skills. This role plays a pivotal part in driving product safety objectives while supporting innovation and maintaining consumer trust.
This is a hybrid position. The individual will work onsite at a Clorox location three days a week, working remotely the other two days.

In this role, you will:
Lead and manage the Product Safety team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
Develop and implement product safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Assess existing product safety processes and procedures, recommending and implementing upgrades, as appropriate
Lead the team in assessment of products, formulas, and ingredients; identify data gaps and design programs to establish their safety and mitigate risks
Proactively communicate product safety guidance to business partners and other internal stakeholders
Address global regulatory toxicology and product safety questions
Manage in-market safety questions/issues, collaborating with different internal stakeholders/functions such as Legal, R&D, business partners
Represent the company in product safety-related industry forums, regulatory meetings, and other external engagements, contributing to the external defense of key substances through industry associations
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to product safety and stewardship
What we look for:
PhD in Toxicology, Life Science, Pharmacology, or a related field
Minimum of 10 years of experience in product safety/toxicology, preferably within a Fortune 500 CPG company, with at least 8 years in a leadership role
Technical mastery in toxicology and product safety/risk assessment
Proven experience in managing and leading teams
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to product safety / Regulatory experience in the safety of EPA FIFRA, CPSC and FDA Foods products is preferred
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
Creative thinking and smart risk-taking to re-apply knowledge and principles when new product forms need to be assessed
Proactive and agile leadership, troubleshooting, and solution-driving skills balancing business needs while ensuring product safety
Strong sense of ownership to develop and convey robust, principle-based positions while respecting questions or ideas from others

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
–Zone A: $144,200 - $289,900
–Zone B: $132,200 - $265,700
–Zone C: $120,200 - $241,600

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
