Job Description

Pay Rate: $75000 to $90000 per year.

Position Purpose:

Performs process optimization engineering work and provides process control expertise as well as small to mid-scale project management coordination with operations, maintenance, client and third parties. Ensures optimum plant performance and compliance with water quality objectives through the development and implementation of process control management systems. This includes collecting and organizing all the process data and equipment maintenance records. Reviewing the process data and adjusting/updating the process control orders and SOP's as needed.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of pilot plant activities with client, consultants and steering committee. Including drafting meeting agendas, maintaining meeting minutes, and presenting data to involved parties.

  • Daily oversight and operation of pilot test units.

  • Field data collection and sampling.

  • Collection, organization and normalization of process data.

  • Responsible for recognizing trends in the process data and the ability to present it in both report and presentation format.

  • Working with chemicals. Batching chemicals and adjusting dosages.

  • Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and functioning.

  • Oversee and supervise work of maintenance staff in the completion of work-related responsibilities as needed.

  • Prepares routine process performance reports documenting treatment performance, plant production and treatment costs.

  • Follow safe work plans associated with assigned tasks.

  • Additional responsibilities/duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, unpleasant odors, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and vibrations.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline.

  • Prior work or internship related experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principals, practices and operation of water or wastewater treatment processes and related equipment, including microfiltration and reverse osmosis equipment.

  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office, AutoCAD or Visio.

  • Must be self- motivated, reliable, eager to learn and be able to complete work with minimal direct supervision.

  • Ability to read and comprehend equipment operations and maintenance manuals.

  • Ability to present data in both written and oral format. Comfortable giving presentations in front of an audience.

  • Requires ability to adapt to changing priorities and work demands including work schedule.

  • Be available for afterhours call outs and varying work schedules including nights/weekends.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • EIT certificate is preferred.

  • A valid California Driver's License is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders; sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste and smell.

  • The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision; and ability to focus.

  • The employee will be provided and is required to wear personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots/shoes, safety glasses, and hard-hat.
