Position Overview

Join our team at Autodesk as a Senior Solution Architect, where you will be a technical subject matter expert with experience in defining, automating, and integrating Autodesk solutions that create competitive advantage for companies in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry space. You’ll work closely with our customers’ leadership teams to specify, architect and design innovative solutions that will enable them to realize their business goals and strategies.

Employing industry standard methodologies and frameworks, you’ll lead a team to build solutions that will provide help our customers achieve higher efficiencies and better outputs. These solutions will improve and automate their design and construction processes and workflows, help them make their data a strategic business asset enabling automation, analytics, and AI. You will help educate customers create a clear vision on future business capabilities, advise them on key architecture considerations, and inform them on implantation strategies and plans including estimating effort and resources required. You will help customer define a clear path to successfully develop, integrate, and deploy new solutions.

You will report to a manager who leads a team of Solution Architects. You will work closely with the Solution Architects on your team collaborating to improve the teams’ capabilities and to ensure customer success. You will also work with a team of technical and third party consultants who will implement they solutions. You will be asked to work with sales teams helping to define strategies that will lead to better outcomes for Autodesk and for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Define and validate Software and IT System architecture by evaluating and translating customer business needs

  • Define and design business processes and standards that will enable our customers to get greater value from Autodesk tools and to integrate data and processes across their enterprise

  • Keep abreast with technology trends (innovative and disruptive) affecting our customers

  • Understand data tools, standards, processes, and strategies

  • Understand best practices for design lifecycles and construction execution

  • Elicit input from stakeholders for arriving at the best possible solution and present feedback back to the stakeholders about solution impact

  • Educate and highlight key architecture considerations to implement the solution

  • Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements for the solution

  • Actively help customers plan for and execute organizational change management

  • Be an effective voice of Autodesk solutions in various outlets such as conferences, whitepapers, and blogs

  • Act as a “Trusted Advisor” providing technical and thought leadership to the customer to guide them to success for current and future business needs

  • Evaluate design approaches, make architectural recommendations, and implement improvements to adoption strategies

  • Lead and Mentor developers and 3rd party consultants, work with project managers and project sponsors

  • Collaborate with and coach team members as we collectively try to improve and grow in our profession and impact

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a relevant BS degree, or 3+ years with an advanced degree

The Ideal Candidate

  • Understanding of AEC tools and processes

  • Experience with Autodesk Technologies in the AEC domain (Revit, Civil 3D, Infraworks, BIM360, ACC, etc.)

  • Database Knowledge: including understanding of database principles including relational, No SQL, and Graph databases

  • The candidate has Architected solutions to integrate workflow from traditional desktop to cloud applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Travel up to 50% when required and company policy allows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Practical experience building or integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL web services

  • Experience with ETL/ELT: Understanding of data warehousing and ETL/ELT tools

  • Knowledge of languages such as Python, R, or Julia for data analysis and model development

  • Strong .NET skills. Our language of choice on the client and server-side is .NET

  • Knowledge of or Certified in Architecture Assessment Methods like TOGAF

  • Presented and acted as an “advisor” to stakeholders in past job history

  • Leadership experience as a Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Architect in previous roles

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $89,900 and $155,100. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
