JPMorgan Chase Senior Principal Architect- Software Defined Network in Plano, Texas

As a Senior Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Software Defined Networking team, you will have the opportunity to lead the architecture & design of our next generation SDN capabilities. This role allows you to partner with other infrastructure teams and align with our Enterprise Architecture. You will bring your deep technical expertise across multiple infrastructure domains, with a focus on modern Software Defined Networking and Cloud concepts. Your role is critical in promoting a cohesive and integrated strategic architecture to meet our highly dynamic and continuously evolving business, regulatory and security landscape. You will have the chance to bring disparate requirements and viewpoints together, synthesizing them into an architecture and design that meets all the critical functional, scalability, resiliency, security and maintainability requirements, and is implementable by our engineering teams at the scale of JPMorgan Chase.

Key responsibilities:

  • Apply deep technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to analyze complex data/systems, anticipate issues, and mitigate risks.

  • Work with other Engineering and Platform teams to architect and rapidly iterate on designs, patterns, or changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes.

  • Lead a team in developing secure, high-quality prototype and production code, and review and debug code written by others.

  • Demonstrate the ability to solve problems, not deliver fixes. Provide technical guidance and strategic direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.

  • Drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.

  • Execute work according to compliance standards, risk and security, and business objectives.

  • Advise and mentor engineers and technologists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Develop and contribute to a great team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications:

  • Formal training or certification on modern architectural standards and practices and 10+ years applied experience

  • Advanced knowledge of modern architectural standards and practices, deep knowledge of Cloud concepts enabling Modern Software Defined Networks paradigms including VNFs, CNFs, CNIs (Cilium, OVH, Calico, etc), SASE; and Network Security tenants like Micro and Macro Segmentation/Zero Trust, Continuous Validation and enforcement of security Controls, etc.

  • Knowledge of other complementary infrastructure technologies (e.g., containers, compute, databases, storage, identity, etc).

  • Proven track record of partnering with Product Managers and other Architects to translate the vision and requirements into high quality Architecture and work with Engineering teams to refine and actualize the design.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Cross-domain Architecture and System design

  • Practical experience with cloud-native technologies and virtualization and the ability to operate in design across public and private clouds.

  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with technical stakeholders and senior technology leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Network domain / engineering experience with underlay and overlay topologies at scale. Experience with Policy as code frameworks (OPA, Kyverno, etc).

  • Experience in working in a rapidly evolving start up style organizations within a large regulated firm is a plus.

  • Drive to continue developing technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product.
